I bought Fable II for free

Fable II

The cover of the title.

I have spent some money purchasing Microsoft points and buying some cool arcade games like Trials HD. I was rather bored the other night and thought I’d go onto the game marketplace on XBOX Live and buy a full game from the on demand selection. I remember playing Fable on the original XBOX and enjoyed it overall, I have never tried the sequel and thought it might provide me with a few hours of enjoyment to pass the time.

£19.99 was the displayed price, which I was happy with. I quickly checked the preview and after the video had finished I was going to purchase the download. After the preview had finished the price changed on the summary from the given £19.99 to free. I was thinking for a second that I had been sent to the demo or something so I read through the description and looked around in the tabs and it was the full game.

Sucked into the XBOX 360

Yes I am now a pawn in the Microsoft empire, wasn’t I already? I mean, they had me naked serving Windows 7 hot dogs with mustard I am that pleased with it. In all seriousness, I needed a games console, something to fill any spare time I have. It was always out of the Wii or the 360 but I just couldn’t have a Wii, I mean why would I want to stand there flicking the controller around like a fairy on my own if I don’t have friends round that day?

Traygon123 Gamertag

My gamertag is Traygon123, if you have XBOX Live then add me, and yes I can advertise my profile on here as it’s my blog! I am normally found shouting and ranting on Halo 3 or being a soar loser on Halo Wars, haven’t really ventured online in any other game just yet.

Apple and Microsoft are Terrible

All this talk of one set of fan boys arguing against another since the beginning of time is just starting to get irritating, especially when both sides are completely wrong. Is Microsoft better? No. Is Apple superior? No. Let me explain the day I have had with trouble from both sides, pathetic problems that shouldn’t even be present.

Windows 7

Okay, so this Operating System is okay, apart from the fact that I received four BSOD’s (Blue Screen of Death) yesturday and today it seems to want to keep bugging me to restart my machine and install updates, which of course… fail. When I do have a chance to actually do something on the machine I get notifications of files being ready to burn to a disc. I haven’t copied any files to be burned to a blank CD and when I go the built-in burning feature (which is crap in itself), it’s blank!

Windows Media Player

I don’t know who oversees the development over at MHQ, but this person must have been either stoned or pissed out their face when he or she approved and released this bad boy into the world. Not only has it got a ridiculous interface, terrible track sorting and not being able to have your songs in a nice tight list is just beyond belief. Importing music? No problem… wait! Where is the import feature? Oh so I need to go and select a destination for music to be automatically updated? Sounds good to me! I’ll leave it there for 5 minutes to update the library.

Girls Playing RuneScape

Why does it have to be males that play online games? Why do females always get left out of the equation? I know some fantastic female clans who are just as dedicated as men are to their game.

Seen a female character in RuneScape? Wondered if it’s a pervert liking the sprites or a real hot female gamer behind the screen just ready to jump out at you and start striping? I know I did back in the day. I remember chatting to some people while mining in Dwarven Mines and a few were girls who were mates in real life, I found it weird at first as normally women aren’t impressed when you talk about your gaming life.

Wouldn't you like this young lady playing in your room?

Wouldn't you like this young lady playing in your room?

When you see more play as the months go by, start talking to them and finding out that some are married, have boyfriends or bat on the same field, you begin to disagree with all the articles around the web that games are for blokes. Women can start to disagree with games are for geeks, I admit that many players these days are still a bit ‘geeky’ but most of us are cool and up for a laugh!

Gaming Community: The Good & Bad

They play games, they enjoy games, they put games before important tasks and they make the gaming industry tick (and tock). Correct, I’m talking about gamers! The warm hearted, friendly, talkative folk with a crackin’ sense of humor!

That was what it was like in the good ol’ days. What is the community like today? In a mess, full of spoiled kids and people that just don’t give a whopping shit about other players’ enjoyment. Having played online games on my PC, i have witnessed abuse, players being singled out and gamers repeatedly rule break. A fantastic example below in a Counter Strike: Source game. All I’m going to say is “Holla holla, get dollas”. (caution: contains strong language)

How can someone like that get away with verbal abuse? Not only is he around half the age of other players and would seriously get his head bashed in if he acted like that in real life, it’s just terrible sportsmanship.

Turning Great RPG Games into Online Cash Flow

Loved Warcraft? Ever roamed around smashing creatures in, thinking “ZOMG!!! This would be so awesome online with other gamers!”, they answered with World of Warcraft. This game was exceptional with one great advantage – it was the first MMORPG to take the leap and start building a strong community. Thinking the same thing while playing the likes of Fallout or Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is common, but should be left as thoughts and role playing. They are fantastic on their own, why turn the story into a mindless mob bashing frenzy?

Right, off to do some more grinding!

Right, off to do some more grinding!

Games are beginning to follow suit, or so it seems, and turn exceptional games into online gold mines. I admit, I used to be a fan as I remember the good days of RuneScape, Zu Online (beta) and Wonderland (beta). I really enjoyed the community and doors that an MMO can open up. Those times have changed since Lord of the Rings, Star Wars: The Old Republic, the rumored Fallout online game and others. They may work for some players, especially avid MMORPG gamers, but what about people like me that like to purchase a game and play it when I like, how I like and not worry about a monthly fee? We get left in the dark, that’s what.
